Catering and Bars

Places to Eat

For the 2014 bars and catering at The War and Peace Revival, we are delighted to once again be working with Hardings Catering – the team that ran the bars and permanent restaurants at the 2013 show. Hardings received praise from all concerned regarding its service, professionalism and quality in its bars and the restaurants during the 2013 show, so we had no hesitation in inviting them to return to The War and Peace Revival for 2014.

This year Hardings will also be managing the catering units and to ensure that the service, quality and value for money expected by customers, and the support required by its caterers, a dedicated Catering Manager will be onsite for the duration of The War and Peace Revival. The Catering Manager will act as a liaison between the traders and the Organiser and monitor the food and drinks supplied by them to the public.

All enquiries by catering units for pitches at The War and Peace Revival 2014, managed by the new catering team, can be addressed to Dean Harding [email protected] or call the office on 01273 675 756.

With 18-different catering units including vegetarian and gluten-free provisions, with a wide variety of other types of food, plus ice creams and tea/coffee stalls, more information to follow.

Hardings Catering have confirmed that none of the catering units will be using polystyrene, paper or plastic containers.  All catering units will only use biodegradable, compostable or recyclable containers.   Hardings Catering are also going to cater for people affected by Coeliac Disease.

Food will also be available all day in:

  • The Victorian Bar and Grill at The Officers’ Mess – a 100 seater downstairs restaurant in our Victorian Grandstand – the first one you come to on arrival. This looks to the rear of the grounds, from where you can see the Vintage Village and all its exciting displays and activities!  Open for refreshments from 9.30am and lunch from 11.30am. Restaurants will be open each evening until around 11pm and a bar is open from 10.00am each day.

  • The Battle of Britain Carvery– a 250 seater restaurant, upstairs in the Main Grandstand accessible also by lift. This has a spectacular view across the front from where you will see the Living History displays, the Arena, classic cars and lots more. It will serve good quality, inexpensive food.  Breakfast is served from 7.00-10.00am and the carvery starts from 11.30am through to 4.00pm.  Restaurants will be open each evening until around 11pm and a bar is open from 10.00am each day.

  • For those staying onsite, the restaurants will be open each evening until approximately 11.00pm.

  • Come and enjoy a fine cup of tea in a bone china cup served from a teapot in The Spitfire Tea-room. Our lovely 1940s team room will be run by War and Peace regular Joanne better known from the NAAFI wagon – renowned for its excellent bread and butter pudding! Serving sandwiches, toasties, fluffy jacket potatoes, cream teas, homemade cakes plus tea and coffee/cold drinks served by elegant waitresses in the Lyons' Tea Rooms uniform.  This will be a haven for those who would like to sit down and enjoy a light bite in 40s themed surroundings.  Open daily from 10am to 6pm.

Bars

As well as the Bars in the Victorian Bar and Grill at The Officers’ Mess, Victory Marquee, Ginger's, the Official's Bar and The Battle of Britain Carvery Restaurants, we also have:

The Jazz Bar

Another new addition in 2013 was the Jazz Bar, bringing a bit of swing to your life!  The Jazz Bar, situated behind the main grandstands, provides a relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the main show.  Each afternoon and early evening, live jazz music will be provided by the popular Silk Road Trio while, for wristband holders, Big John Carter will liven up the late night atmosphere with an exciting blend of boogie woogie and piano-led blues.

Also during the day will be talks from some of our authors who are based near the Victory Marquee.

With a full bar and comfortable seating indoors and outside on the patio, the Jazz Bar is an ideal place to recharge your batteries, meet and greet friends, or just sit and enjoy some good music.

Monty's Bar

Situated on the ground floor of the Main Grandstand is Monty's Bar where you can go for a nice quiet drink.
