War and Peace Revival 2013 at Folkestone Racecourse –
The Greatest Gathering of Military Vehicles on the Planet!
Tickets are now on sale for the exciting new five-day military and vintage festival, coming to Folkestone Racecourse, Kent, in July. Visitors to what will be the biggest show of its kind in the world will enjoy action-packed battle re-enactments, static displays, vintage fashions and the songs, sounds and smells of wartime. The War and Peace Revival will bring the Dunkirk Spirit to this historic corner of Kent.
The main grandstand at this unique venue will provide superb views of the action, as well as a range of restaurants and bars, including a Jazz bar and 1940s tea room. Veterans of WWII will enjoy FREE entry to the show as normal from a War and Peace event, and in recognition of the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and the 50th anniversary of the end of National Service, veterans of these will be welcomed for free also.
Thousands of military vehicles are expected to gather from around the world representing the armies of the 20th century, including tanks, artillery, armoured and amphibious vehicles, cars, Jeeps, bicycles and motorbikes, emergency and commercial vehicles - and lots more.
Living History scenes will provide a unique picture of life in conflict with depictions from WW1 to the present - see the British living in trenches, GIs in Vietnam, Russians relaxing with an accordion after a hard day in battle, and the Home Guard.
Trade stalls will give collectors and shoppers the opportunity to browse through marquees packed full of treasures including militaria, antiquities, vehicle parts, books, memorabilia, clothing and uniforms and all manner of essential finds for the discerning enthusiast – everything from a shirt button to a tank!
For the modellers, an extensive display of some top class models will be on display, bringing enthusiasts from around the world.
And for those seeking a little more glamour and refinement, the amazing Vintage Village, offers style galore, in an area dedicated to all things vintage. The V Marquee brings the 1940s to life with the best in entertainment from the period, while the Vintage Market Place offers world class fashion, homeware and civilian memorabilia from that period. To liven up the pace, a Dance Marquee will give lessons in everything from Jive to Rock 'n' Roll, which you can then try out in the dance sessions throughout the day. Evening entertainment each night will encourage visitors to join in the after-dark sessions, with ticketed events on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July seeing War and Peace regulars, The Jive Aces and the iconic John Miller Orchestra.
The War and Peace Battle of Britain Experience has full-sized replicas of a Spitfire, Hurricane and Me 109 with a genuine WWII pilot to show you around, with impressive flypast displays in the skies above.
A unique exhibition of photographs of Kent, courtesy of the War and Peace Photo Archive, depicting life during the war, includes the visit of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother to Deal, land girls, Churchill and Montgomery visiting Dover, and the freedom marches through Canterbury.
