In the eventuality that the French My Ferry Link workers decide to strike again, Operation Stack may be called into force. Before you panic - don't - there are alternative ways to get here including our mainline Westenhanger train station right next door! So here's more information for you ..
There are three levels of Operation Stack; Phase 1, 2 and 3. If Phase 2 is implemented then the M20 will be closed from Junction 8 to Junction 10 while the Police use one lane to park up the lorries.
However we are lucky that the A20 runs alongside the M20 and passes directly by the Racecourse so all exhibitors, campers and public can take the turning at Junction 8 and follow the signs for the A20 to Ashford, taking you past the turning to the lovely Leeds Castle.
If Operation Stack is only at Phase 1 then you can continue past Junction 8 and take the exit off at Junction 10 for the A20, which is then just over 6 miles to the Racecourse.
There are also other routes including using the M2 motorway - you can come off at the signposts for Ashford or continue down to Dover and follow round that way.
Alternatively; don’t forget we have a mainline train station immediately next door to the Racecourse – it’s less than 400 feet away! Westenhanger station is 8-minutes down the line from Ashford making it accessible from all parts of Kent, London and beyond. So why not let the train take the strain! See www.nationalrail.co.uk for information, timetables and to book.
There is also plenty of room to camp onsite if you would like to join in the fun and forget about the traffic! If you’d like to camp you can do all your paperwork on arrival; we’ll always find room for you! And of course there is loads of free fabulous evening entertainment you can then come along to.
Keep tuned to any of our local radio stations for the latest updates on the traffic and travel: BBC Radio Kent Kmfm Heart FM.
Tickets are undated so can be used any day of the show so make sure you check your map, have water with you and leave plenty of time! War and Peace will carry on regardless!
