The Victory Marquee

Once again The War and Peace Revival entertainments team is proud to bring you a feast of frolics and fun, a mass of music and mirth, a cartload of comedy, a barrel of burlesque and a double dose of dance served up every day in the Victory Marquee with a bit of sauce from our cheeky compere, Viv The Spiv!

In addition to our regular programme, there will be some surprise appearances by special guests, including well known cast members from the popular television series 'Allo 'Allo! Click here to see our Victory Marquee page.

The Vintage Marquee

Following the success of the Vintage Marquee last year, we have brought it back for 2015 with a bigger and better programme of music, dance lessons and displays, fashion shows, hair and make-up demonstrations, vintage lifestyle advice, and lots more!

Hosted by popular actress and burlesque performer Missy Maybe, the daily programme also includes our popular free make-over and best-dressed competitions.

Renowned dance teacher and leader of the famed Cinque Ports Lindy Hoppers, "Gypsy" John and his partner Karen will be at the centre of much of the entertainment in the Vintage Marquee providing all of the period music, showing you how to master some vintage dance steps and presenting a dance revue demonstrating a number of different dance styles from the Twentieth Century including the Charleston, Balboa, Lindyhop, Carolina Shag, Stroll and Rock & Roll Jive. John has secured the support of several of the best swing dance teachers from across the UK to provide an exciting show each afternoon.

By request, popular burlesque performer and teacher Missy Maybe will lead a simple but fun interactive session for people of all ages disclosing some of the secrets of her art. Designed for a daytime audience she will cover poses, walks, glove and boa work.

The Hairaid Shelter, our resident make-over experts will be giving hints and tips to help you achieve the genuine vintage look and with the help of unsuspecting members of the audience will demonstrate the art of 1940s and 1950s make up and show some simple hair styling techniques to achieve the period look.

Reproduction clothing retailer HEYDAY! Vintage and original vintage clothing specialists The DRESS CIRCLE will be combining theirextensive experience and knowledge of Vintage fashion and lifestyle to create one of the most popular non-military events at the War and Peace Revival – our annual vintage fashion show. Each day we will choose one lucky lady from our audience to receive a head to toe makeover including a vintage outfit and accessories.

Jazz Bar

The Jazz Bar is our low-key entertainment venue situated in the garden area at the rear of the grandstands where we invite you to relax and enjoy a drink away from the hustle and bustle that characterises the rest of the War and Peace Revival.

We are pleased to have extended the live music offering in the Jazz Bar for this year.

We again feature Silk Road who have recently expanded to a four piece line up. Vocalist Jilly, Guitarist John, and the man on the upright bass Graham have been joined by Dan, an outstanding jazz violist and they will be performing every afternoon at the show. They will also be giving an evening show from Wednesday to Saturday.

Also new for 2015, we have asked popular members of our entertainment team Adam Hoffman and Luna Nightingale to give evening live performances from their jazz repertoire.

To keep the whole programme running smoothly, we have asked DJ and boss of specialist record label CJRO Records, Jeff “Two-Tone” Boogie, to compere the show and keep you entertained with a varied selection of jazz and big band music from his extensive collection.

Book Signings

Book signings and the opportunity to have conversations with authors have long been a feature of War and Peace and it is no different for 2015's show. You can find them in the Casemate UK Book Signers' Pavilion next to the Victory Marquee.

At War and Peace we’re proud to showcase authors and their featured works each year. In 2014 we were delighted to link with Casemate UK, a major specialist publisher and book distributor in the UK, European and Commonwealth markets.

It is not just authors and books published or distributed by Casemate that will feature in our pavilion. We welcome authors of any relevant book to promote themselves at War and Peace – so if you’ve written about any element of military or civilian history from the past century do get in touch; we’d love to hear from you!

So come along at War and Peace and meet the authors and get your book signed – even if you already own it!

As we receive confirmation of authors we will add them onto this page.

We have broadened the range of authors and titles available but ensured they are relevant to our hobby and interest. If you have any ideas or suggestions for authors for us to approach for 2015, please email [email protected].
